Style Journey

STYLE JOURNEY is the first album with recordings by the talented composer and improviser, Melo Catania, and by Christian Georg, who with his highly developed feel for music has produced a very fine sound. Many pieces draw on his ideas. The guitar parts worked in by Melo are largely improvised and were recorded in single sessions.

”Flying to Sevilla”, the first track on their debut album, transports the listener to the land of Carmen, flamenco and toreros, and produces a relaxed, dream-like atmosphere. This is the prelude to a journey around the world – and through various musical genres with elements taken from funk, jazz, Latin and classical: a rollercoaster of emotions created to whisk its listeners to other worlds as if in a film.

From ”Niagara” with its West Coast sound, ”Souvenirs from Orient” with its enchanting oriental pathos, and ”Regatta”, as relaxing as a cruise on the Côte d’Azur in a light breeze, the diverse music is characteristic of the album, evoking visions from the listener’s subconscious. It is a descriptive sound, inspired by Ravel and Debussy, yet also by Salvador Dalí’s surreal paintings, stimulating a dream-like quality.
